The DocLady Story.

As the DocLady, I bring more than three decades of experience in creating and editing documentation to the table. Since childhood, I have been an avid writer, keeping diaries and journals, writing short stories, and working on my school newspaper.

From reporter and copywriter to desktop publisher, technical writer, and corporate communications specialist --I've successfully filled a variety of different roles that specialize in the written word.

At heart, I am a problem solver and enjoy working with others to create solutions that not only meet but EXCEED expectations.

Corporate Communications Specialist

  • Create and execute communication plans to deliver messaging to target stakeholder groups.
     
  • Use change management best practices and techniques to help team members transition from current state to future state by promoting awareness, desire, knowledge, ability, and reinforcement using the ADKAR model.
     
  • Work with project teams and technical staff to ensure that technical changes are communicated in a manner that target audiences can relate to and clearly understand how the changes impact their daily business.

  • Create standards and templates for governance documentation, including policies, processes, and procedures.
     
  • Manage content in SharePoint sites and libraries and provision access permissions as needed.
     
  • Create department metrics for support call resolution, critical issues, and system availability.
     
  • Create and distribute communications regarding system downtime, planned maintenance, and security issues.
     
  • Coordinate and compile disaster recovery information and procedures into business resumption plans.
     
  • Create user documentation such as quick reference guides, training presentations, and searchable online help systems for software products.

Technical Communicator

  • Create and maintain software documentation (online help, training materials, release notes) for a facilities service management system.
     
  • Maintain department's disaster recovery manual to ensure procedures are followed in the event of a hurricane or other disaster that impacts the ability to carry out business.
     
  • Create and maintain process and procedural documentation for servicing and repairing equipment in an easy-to-use and searchable online format.
     
  • Redesign department website for improved usability.

Documentation Specialist

  • Develop and maintain online help and training materials for a set of wireless telecommunications products.
     
  • Serve as subject matter expert by testing product updates for documentation purposes.
     
  • Create and distribute service notices to customers regarding product changes.
